International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture
Santo Tirso
A walk through the city awakens a restless eye for the shapes and angles that lurk in every corner.
Inaugurated in 1997, the International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture (MIEC) is a benchmark in the artistic context, promoting an open-air exhibition of 57 sculpture pieces that combine the diversity of contemporary artistic currents with the urban dynamics of public space.
Visit the six urban centres of the leading exhibition and let your imagination run wild. You can start at Parque D. Maria II, move on to Praça do Município and then on to Parque dos Carvalhais, Praça Camilo Castelo Branco, Parque Urbano Sara Moreira and Parque Urbano de Gião.
Still, don’t miss the MIEC headquarters, the work of architects Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto Moura, and be inspired by its temporary exhibitions.
Opening hours:
Tuesday to Friday
9am to 5:30 pm
Saturday and Sunday
