Santa Maria da Feira Castle
Santa Maria da Feira
This remarkable monument inspires time travel and illustrates the most beautiful postcards and love letters.
Built in the 10th century, Feira Castle is a symbol of Portuguese identity, having been the protagonist and witness to important historical milestones, from the time of Roman occupation, through the Norman invasions, the Reconquest period and, centuries later, Portugal’s independence. Santa Maria da Feira sees its castle as its main tourist attraction and one of Portugal’s most notable military monuments, housing a wide variety of military defence resources. Its heritage value is widely recognised and preserved, making it a cultural hub, and the hosting of the significant cultural event “Medieval Journey in the Lands of Santa Maria” is an excellent example. If you still need to cross paths with her magnificence, now there are more reasons to do so. Start planning now!
