Here you can find a coastal and sandy plain that welcomes with open arms the rebellion of a sea that, for some, is a source of sustenance and, for others, a sanctuary for recreation and rest.
The sea is an essential natural element for the locals who have long made a living from the art of fishing and its trade. To get to know this reality, walk through the streets of Assunção and Lapa, where the proud fishing community lives, to see the fishing port and the dozens of fishermen who work there, to contemplate the murals and monuments that honour scenes from local life.
As a renowned seaside resort, thanks to its extensive Atlantic coastline of approximately 13 kilometres, there are an endless number of blue flag beaches, striped stalls and water sports activities that can be practised here, including surfing and bodyboarding. Remembering the excellent infrastructure and equipment for recreational boating at the marina.
Póvoa de Varzim’s seafront is full of tradition, sea scent, and moments of relaxation and fun.
