UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy
Santa Maria da Feira
Santa Maria da Feira is a UNESCO Creative City concerning Gastronomy, the only one in Portugal with this status.
This land bears fruit for an endless variety of products and flavours. Its flavours range from sweet to savoury, from Fogaça, Caladinho and Regueifa Doce to creamy, buttery cheeses, from liqueurs and craft beers to wines, and from fish to exquisite meats of the Arouquesa breed.
The area’s natural features favour organic agricultural production, abundant in cultivating kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, purple passion fruit and vegetables. It’s also worth mentioning that the banks of the River Cáster grow hops, the plant used to produce local craft beer.
In this diversity and multiplicity, gastronomy is inspired to rediscover and reinvent itself to satisfy the tastes of those who pass through and are not indifferent.
